How to install it on a Mac

  1. Click Download for Mac. You get a .dmg file.
  2. Double-click the .dmg. A window opens with the app on the left and your Applications folder on the right.
  3. Drag the app onto Applications, then open it from Applications or Launchpad. It is checked by Apple, so it opens like any other app.
  4. Paste a YouTube link and click Direct Fetch. The transcript comes straight into the app window.

How to install it on Windows

  1. Click Download for Windows. You get one Setup file.
  2. Double-click the Setup file.
  3. If Windows shows a blue box that says Windows protected your PC, click More info, then Run anyway. (It shows because the app is not signed with Microsoft yet.)
  4. Click through the setup to finish.
  5. Open the app from the Undastandable YouTube Transcriber icon on your Desktop.
  6. Paste a YouTube link and click Direct Fetch. The transcript comes straight into the app window.

What you get for free, and what a key adds

  • Free version: three transcripts a day. No card, no account.
  • Free 7-day trial: unlimited transcripts for a week. Get the key at the trial page. It asks for an email and shows the key on the screen.
  • Full version, $29 once: unlimited, no expiry, nothing renews. See the full version.

Where a key goes

Open the app and click I have a key at the top of the window. Paste the whole key and click Activate. That is all. The key is checked on your own computer, so activating it does not contact us. Getting a transcript still needs the internet and a YouTube video that has captions.

If you bought the full version

Right after you pay, we email you from support@undastandable.com: your receipt, your unlock key, your own download link for Mac and for Windows, and these same install steps. The link works for about three days and up to five downloads. Your key does not expire. If it is not in your inbox after ten minutes, check your spam folder.
